Hiring Manager Review

Send shortlisted candidates to a hiring manager or external reviewer and collect their decision all without giving them full access to Hirex.

What is the Hiring Manager Review?

The Hiring Manager Review (called Executive Review in Hirex) lets you share selected candidates with a reviewer a colleague or someone outside your company so they can evaluate profiles and submit a Go/No Go decision.

Reviewers get a dedicated, secure link. They see only the candidates assigned to them and a focused view of each profile: CV, scorecards, video interviews, assessments, and reference checks.

Sending Candidates to a Reviewer

  1. Open a job posting and go to the Applications view.

  2. Select one or more candidates using their checkboxes.

  3. Click Send to Review in the bulk action bar.

  4. Fill in the review form (details below) and click Send to Review.

A review session is created and the reviewer receives an email with their secure link.

The Review Form

Reviewer type

Choose between two types of reviewers:

Type

Who it's for

Team member

A colleague who already has a Hirex account in your organization

Guest reviewer

Someone outside your organization enter their name and email. Hirex creates a limited guest account with no access to the rest of the platform.

Guest reviewers can open only the review session they were invited to. They cannot browse jobs, candidates, or any other part of Hirex.

Candidate summaries

Before sending, you can add a private note for each candidate context or talking points the reviewer should know. Expand a candidate's row in the form to type a summary.

Reminder

Set a Remind after X days option to send the reviewer an automatic follow-up email if they haven't submitted their decision yet.

Custom email

Toggle Customize Email to personalize the message sent to the reviewer. You can change the subject, body, and insert variables (candidate name, job title, etc.).

What the Reviewer Sees

The reviewer opens their link and lands on a split-screen review page:

  • Left panel candidate list showing all assigned candidates. Reviewed candidates are greyed out.

  • Right panel the selected candidate's full profile:

  • CV viewer the candidate's CV displayed directly in the browser

  • Summary optional note from the HR team

  • Scorecards interviewer ratings and notes

  • Video interviews recorded video interview responses

  • Assessments test results from integrated assessment tools

  • Reference checks submitted reference responses

  • Activities timeline of candidate interactions

On mobile, the reviewer sees a tabbed interface: CV tab and Candidate tab, with navigation arrows to move between candidates.

Submitting a Decision

After reviewing a candidate's profile, the reviewer selects a decision from the evaluation bar at the top of the right panel:

Decision

Meaning

Go

The reviewer recommends moving this candidate forward

No Go

The reviewer does not recommend this candidate

Hold

The reviewer is unsure — wants to revisit

Once a decision is submitted, the candidate is marked as reviewed in the list. The HR team can see all decisions from the application's timeline in Hirex.

Tracking Review Progress

From the application detail page in Hirex, you can see:

  • All active review sessions and their status

  • Each reviewer's decision and any notes they submitted

  • Whether the reviewer has opened the link yet

You can also send a reminder or re-request a review from the same section.
